The program for a private residence nestled on a promontory on the island of Nantucket consists of an existing main house renovation with the addition of a guest house, office and barn structures. The site plan provides views of the ocean as well as complete privacy abutting a natural preserve. The architecture consists of a local shingle style vernacular per code requirements. The interiors, in development, are a mix of relaxed tones as well as refined main rooms for family gathering and study. Balancing the requirement for a unified architectural expression allows for the individual buildings to create their own identity, while still maintaining a cohesion with the site and the islands local vernacular.
